Celaena returns and claims her identity of Aelin Galathynius, rightful queen of Terrasen. She will fight for her friends and family while fighting against the horrors bestowed on the world by the evil King.
Aelin is stronger now, accepting every part of herself. Though she no longer has access to her magic she has accepted it and her heritage. Her power comes from her confidence and simple fighting skills. Threw Aelin’s strength and determination she wages a war in the shadows against the King which is even more successful than anyone would have thought.
One perspective is from Dorian who is trapped inside himself by a black stone collar and an evil demon prince. He is forced to do things he would never do otherwise including torturing people. The demon feeds on people’s pain and fear which means that he’s constantly forcing Dorian to witness horrible acts. Dorian becomes the King’s willing servant, instantly doing anything the King requests.
Aelin and Choal have a strained relationship due to their previous falling out. Choal feels lied to by Aelin, while he understands he still feels lied by the woman he loves. Though he is still loyal to Aelin and her cause of taking down the King and free the people. Aelin still cares for him but can’t get past the events of Nehemia’s death.
I love this latest instalment in the Throne of Glass series. The series is one of my favourites. I give it 5/5
