A good high fantasy with well-developed characters and an intriguing plot. Though it was slow at first. In a few places, I found I wanted the plot to move faster than it was which was very frustrating but when it did speed up it was definitely worth it. The world building was very intriguing and I enjoyed how everyone didn’t easily believe in legendary creatures.

I loved the characters, especially Bort. He was such a sweetie but strong and tough like a big bear! It was clever to have an older woman who wasn’t a warrior or ‘the chosen one’ in a fantasy, her perspective on the battles was very real. It was good to see that they had both male and female soldiers in the army. Lineth, a young female soldier, was very cool while Endor, an older skilled warrior, was a real badass! And yes, there was a wise old wizard.

A good read for any fans of high fantasy. I give 4/5
